About Marine Garbage Volunteer
We at Tsushima CAPPA promote the beauty of Tsushima's ocean, and in order to maintain the coastal scenery and increase the value of the coastal environment as a tourist resource, we conduct awareness-raising activities on measures to deal with driftwood and hold beach cleanup events.
We view not only local residents, but also the Ministry of the Environment, Nagasaki Prefecture, Tsushima City, environmental volunteer groups, and the people of neighboring South Korea as stakeholders, and we work in various ways, such as hosting, co-hosting, sponsoring, and providing assistance.
Therefore, we are always looking for people to participate in these events and volunteer activities.

Major regular local events
Komoda Beach Clean-up Volunteer
A grand festival is held every November at Komodahama Shrine, which enshrines the first lord of the island, Mune Sukekuni, who was killed in battle during the Mongol invasion in 1274. Local volunteers gather before the shrine to clean up the coast.
Mamemochi, a sweet from that time that was only served during the festival, will also be recreated by local shops and served as a special treat.
Cleaning up the former Shioura Elementary School beach
Shioura Elementary School, which received the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Award for its long-standing efforts in beautification activities, closed in March 2015. In order to pass on the school's aspirations to the future, the school is cleaning up the beach in front of the school every year.
Japan-Korea Citizen Beach Cleanup
A large-scale clean-up event centered on Japan-Korea exchange. Sponsored by Tsushima City, it was co-hosted and supported by various organizations, with over 300 participants.
In addition to the cleanup work, a Japan-Korea marine litter workshop will also be held, making this the largest environmental event on the island.

A beach clean-up event that has been held by joint Japanese and Korean volunteers for over 10 years.
Koreans living on the island, as well as those from Seoul and Busan, gather together and go to various beaches every year to clean up.

To prevent injury, we recommend wearing clothing that covers as little skin as possible.
Please take precautions against sunburn and heatstroke in summer, and against the cold in winter, and wear clothes that are easy to move in.
